Dear readers, authors, and reviewers,
The Journal of Health Economics and Outcomes Research (JHEOR) is proud to announce that it has been accepted for inclusion in PubMed Central (PMC). Indexing of this title will begin with all issues published after January 2018. Since 2013, the JHEOR team has worked hard to provide quality research in the fields of health economics and outcomes research. This is collaborative work: every article that is published in JHEOR is worked on first by its authors, second by its reviewers, third by copy editors and typesetters, and finally by our Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Onur Baser. We thank every single person, therefore, who has encountered JHEOR throughout their professional career. Your input was invaluable for this current success.
PMC is a free archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the United States National Institutes of Health’s National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM). Since its founding in 2000, PMC has acted as a resource for quality scholarship from around the world. Currently, it hosts an archive of millions of articles which come from thousands of journals.
Over the past several months, JHEOR has undergone several changes with the intention of upholding and maintaining the academic quality of the journal. This includes the implementation of Similarity Check software, which allows us a consistent method to test journal submissions for plagiarism. We have also been assigning individual DOI numbers to each of our articles through CrossRef since September 2019. In September 2019, we were also approved for archiving in Portico, and we announced in January 2020 that we have been accepted for indexing in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). We are incredibly overjoyed that acceptance into PMC is another step in this process, and we look forward to the continued growth that we will see throughout the rest of 2020 and beyond.
In particular, we thank our contributors, who come from a wide variety of academic backgrounds all over the world. It is your scholarship that makes JHEOR what it is. Thank you for choosing JHEOR to publish your work and share your research with the world.
We thank our reviewers for their hard and careful work. Thanks to your input, we have upheld JHEOR to the high academic standards which have allowed it to be considered for this important index. We hope to be able to count on your contributions in the future, as it is your work that will help JHEOR to continue to grow and continue to be accepted in other indices.
We also thank the entire team at Data Conversion Laboratories (DCL)—in particular Gitty Kupferstein and David Turner—who have been instrumental in our completion of the technical evaluation stage of our PMC application.
Finally, we extend our thanks to Scholastica, which hosts JHEOR as well as a wide array of other open access journals. The Scholastica team has provided JHEOR with indispensable help with everything from the typesetting and formatting of articles to helping us conform to Plan S guidelines.
